In the time of waiting, each day was a prayer. The body was fragile, but faith grew.

A month after the transplant, I was holding my son in my arms. Inside me beat a new heart a gift from an angel.

Eleven years ago, the doctors gave me two years to live.
I was suffering from an increasingly severe cardiomyopathy.

But love proved stronger than pain.

I married Marta, my beloved wife, in the hospital chapel.
I baptized my son, Lorenzo.

Then I was transferred to Milan, to Niguarda Hospital and one day, a heart arrived from heaven.

That’s when my rebirth began.
